A few CGD Library staff recently attended an Online Resources Forum coordinated by the Public Libraries Victoria Network (PLVN), which provided us with a little insight into some popular online material and value added services that are becoming more available and relevant to the Public Library sector.
We want your feedback...
In this learning blog post we're asking staff to explore a few databases that we currently have trial access to. These databases could possibly be added to CGD Libraries Research Online service if we determine there is benefit in adding any or all databases to the library's collection.
Your feedback is appreciated in the decision making process, so please take the opportunity to have a play with the following databases and forward constructive thoughts to me by the end of November.
Given CGD Libraries only has TRIAL access to the following databases and this blog is in the public domain, the access passwords were included in the 'database trials' emailed to staff. Please do let me know if any of the links/passwords do not allow access before the end of the month.
Language Learning Databases (including ESL)
Mango - Apologies, this database is not accessible from the workstation PCs in the library only via Wireless, otherwise, try accessing remotely.

Online Music, Dance, Opera & Theatre (Alexander Street Press)
Music Online - Incorporates Music Listening & Reference, Dance in Video, Opera in Video
If CGD Libraries subscribe to Music Online, the licensing agreement would allow us to play music in the library for program events and/or ambiance purposes.
Theatre in Video
I look forward to receiving your feedback.
